Frost-proof wastewater pipe on the Kitzsteinhorn - EIGERFLEX LONGLINE at 3000 m altitude

Close to Austria's oldest glacier ski area, we used our product to provide a frost-proof wastewater pipe from the mountain station to the mid-valley station of the Kitzsteinhorn gondola lift. This challenging installation was carried out in close cooperation with our proven distribution partner KE KELIT and its customers.

Two EIGERFLEX LONGLINE pipes from BRUGG PIPES were used at an altitude of up to 3,000 meters between June and October 2023. As the construction site is located in rocky scree, a trench first had to be excavated by blasting and drilling. The pipeline was then connected to an existing pipeline from the middle station to the valley station.

The technical implementation was just one of the challenges that the workers faced at this altitude. Even transporting the materials and vehicles to the site via narrow mountain roads was a logistical masterstroke. The project was also heavily dependent on the weather conditions. In order to ensure a flawless technical installation, the workers had to keep the trench clear of snow at all times.

The EIGERFLEX LONGLINE pipe proved to be extremely reliable for the transportation of drinking water and wastewater under extreme conditions. Thanks to the fixed resistance heating cable, there are no performance limitations over 1,000 meters. The integrated heating technology enables effortless installation with maximum flexibility. The coordinated accessories round off the easy handling of the BRUGG Pipes product and ensure smooth implementation - even for the most demanding tasks.
