Our rigid long-distance pipeline, PREMANT, combines numerous premium features with outstanding versatility and can be customised to meet the specific requirements of any project. In fact, the exceptionally adaptable design of this pipe system prompted us to register the product name as a trademark – only PREMANT can safely transport district heating and industrial media, provide excellent thermal insulation and meet the demands of complex routes and project specifications without compromise.
PREMANT can be used both above ground and underground in district and local heating networks, allowing direct, trenchless underground installation. The expansion of an ever-growing district heating network will ensure a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy supply. District heating therefore plays a key role in providing energy responsibly and efficiently on a large scale. Currently, one in four German households relies on district heating – and that number is growing daily.
Our monitorable pipe system is also ideal for the thermally insulated transport of fluids for industrial applications. It has proven reliable in both application areas for decades, and is now the industry standard for energy supply.
In addition to transporting hot water to heat buildings, the installed pipe systems also convey domestic hot water, condensate and other fluids, such as chemical products – safely and extremely efficiently – to their destinations. With customizable product features, PREMANT can also be configured for use as a cooling, wastewater, or fire-rated pipe.
We offer this pipe solution in two different designs. Depending on the application, customers can choose between a single-carrier pipe version (PREMANT UNO) or a dual-carrier pipe version (PREMANT DUO).
PREMANT UNO is available in a wide range of dimensions, from DN 20 to DN 1000. With the right configuration, the system can be precisely tailored to the required flow rate and speed, making it suitable for various applications. The pipe system is designed to withstand media temperatures up to 144 degrees Celsius and pressures up to PN 25.
PREMANT DUO features a slightly different design and includes an additional carrier pipe, operating at a maximum continuous operating temperature of 130 degrees Celsius. Like the UNO variant, PREMANT DUO can withstand pressures up to PN 25. Our range includes nominal diameters from DN 20 to 300.
The PREMANT carrier pipe is manufactured in steel as standard and is available as welded, seamless or galvanized versions. Alternatively, we offer this rigid pipe system with a stainless steel inner pipe. Flexibility, however, extends beyond the inner pipe – customers can also choose different thermal insulation options. The polyurethane (PUR) foam insulation system, available with both pentane- and CO2-driven PUR rigid foam, offers excellent energy-saving potential (λ50 = 0.0260 W/mK). For certain high-temperature applications, we can produce PREMANT with specialised fire protection insulation. Customers have a choice of three insulation thicknesses for both the PUR and fire-resistant options.
The outer plastic casing provides excellent protection, as the high-density polyethylene (PE-HD) material is extremely durable and corrosion-resistant. Since the three main components of the PREMANT pipes – the inner pipe, insulation and outer casing – are combined into a single unit, the pipe system is classified as a composite pipe. Composite pipes are extremely durable, offering optimal protection against moisture ingress. By contrast, non-composite systems typically contain insulation made up of multiple individual parts, which increases the risk of moisture degrading the inner pipe if the outer casing sustains micro-damage.
Our customers can also choose between various moisture monitoring options, including early detection systems from Brandes and Nordic/EMS. In both cases, the electronic monitoring wires are embedded in the insulation layer, providing real-time moisture detection via a compatible leak monitoring system.
Depending on the dimensions, we offer the pipe units in lengths of 6, 12 or 16 metres. Additionally, the pipes can be individually pre-bent to match the exact route. Thanks to our state-of-the-art production facilities, we can quickly and efficiently meet even the most complex customer requirements, offering convenient installation for both standard and customised components.
BRUGG Pipes is committed to exceptional product quality and transparent production and testing processes. We design, construct and manufacture our pipes in accordance with EN standards 253, 448, 488 and 489, ensuring that our PREMANT end product is also certified to ISO 9001 and 14001. This means that each pipe undergoes extensive safety checks across all categories, including leak-tightness, X-ray inspection and freedom from pores. With its composite system construction, excellent thermal insulation and numerous customization options, PREMANT pipes are suitable for a wide variety of applications, from water and wastewater lines in sewer systems to heating, cooling, oil or pressure pipes. The versatility of PREMANT can be attributed to the following adjustable features: the number of carrier pipes and their material and size; the type and thickness of the foam insulation; a broad range of nominal diameters; optional moisture monitoring systems; customizable pipe lengths; pre-bent pipe components, as well as the option to incorporate project-specific custom parts into the design.
Our product should be installed exclusively by certified companies. Our trained installation specialists, working alongside skilled professionals, are available to manage the installation of PREMANT.
The long-distance pipeline modules and all associated components, such as bends, T-pieces, ball valves for venting, fixed points and more, are prefabricated at our factory to ensure they meet all current and project-specific requirements and standards. We supply our long-distance pipelines and all additional components as project-based prefabricated units, eliminating the need for on-site manufacturing.
The installation procedure for PREMANT is based on a modular system, simplifying both planning and assembly. All components are joined on-site using circumferential welds. The weld seams and attachment ends are then insulated using coupling sleeves. As early as the planning phase, we offer support and guidance to ensure a smooth installation process.
Pipe connections are the weak point in any district heating system, making high-quality secondary insulation essential. Our patented INDUCON electrofusion method sets new standards in coupling technology. This method creates secondary insulation with a strong, water- and gas-tight seal by seamlessly welding the coupling sleeve to the outer pipe casing. Further details can be found below in our overview of coupling systems.
Thanks to our advanced equipment, we can produce custom designs and specialized components to meet your specific needs – usually with short lead times. Simply send us your specific request. In addition to the manufacturing, testing and installation of our components, project-specific planning of piping systems is a key area of our expertise. This includes tasks such as structural calculations, assembly drawings and expansion design calculations. Using this information, we can create a long-distance pipeline system that is perfectly suited to your construction project. Many cities and large metropolitan areas in Germany and across Europe already rely on long-distance pipelines from BRUGG Pipes.
